Yesterday, we shared with you the first images and poster for Luc Besson’s upcoming crime comedy The Family. Well, as expected, the trailer for the film has now been released, giving us our first real glimpse into the story, characters, and overall ambience of the world therein.

Marking a return to the mob for actors Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer, The Family (formerly titled Malavita), tells the story of a notorious Italian-American mafia clan whose relocation to Normandy, France under the witness protection program goes…well, awry. Incapable of shaking off some shabby habits (blowing up a local grocery store in retaliation for being called a dumb American is usually not the best way to “fit in”), the now-called Blake family soon finds itself caught up in a world where settling things the “family” way only causes more problems than it solves.

Given the quirky nature of the story, it should come as no surprise that the trailer is filled with moments of dark humour and vigorous action. Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, The Family co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, Dianna Agron, and John D’Leo, and is set to be released in theatres on September 20th.
