One of the major casualties of Disney’s landmark purchase of Lucasfilm was the animated series The Clone Wars. Shortly after the Mouse House bought up George Lucas’s company it was revealed that the series would be winding down and the already produced episodes of season six would be the last.

After months of speculation as to how these final episodes will be broadcast, Deadline have reported that all 13 episodes will be available on Netflix March 7 and will be subtitled ‘The Lost Missions’. The previous five seasons will also be accessible to Netflix subscribers which is the first time anything from the Star Wars universe has been on the streaming platform.

Fans of the series can expected closure on some of the long running story arcs and revelations about the beginning of the Clone War. Here’s the official synopsis for the final batch of episodes.

“In these eagerly anticipated episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, some of the deepest mysteries of the conflict between the light and the dark sides of the Force are revealed. An intrepid clone trooper discovers a shocking secret, Anakin Skywalker’s closest relationship is tested to its limits and what Master Yoda discovers while investigating the disappearance of a Jedi could forever change the balance of power in the galaxy.”

Despite the less than impressive feature length movie that launched The Clone Wars in 2008, the series itself was surprisingly good and by focusing on all those missing pieces from the film saga the series was far more enjoyable than the complete prequel trilogy. Disney will debut their own animated series later this year on their Disney XD channel with Star Wars Rebels, plot details are top secret but we do know that the series is set between the events of Episode III and VI.
