A month on from its premature cancellation, series creator/producer Ben Edlund has confirmed that after much searching The Tick has been unable to find a new home.

“After much door-knocking, we have found no new home for the Tick series in this current market. #SaveTheTick & #LunaTickArmy I’m sorry we could not reward your glorious support with better news. I am so proud of the show, of the cast and crew and writers, and so warmed by the fans. We will look for other opportunities to continue this story with this cast, but the current series must I’m afraid to come to its end. Please continue to choose love and hope for good things. And I think we might as well accept it as a law of the universe: when the time is right The Tick always comes back…”

Based on Edlund's comic-book that was released back in 1986, The Tick starred Peter Serafinowicz as the titular blue suited superhero who joins forces with an accountant named Arthur  (Griffin Newman) to rid the city of supervillain known as The Terror. Launching through Amazon's pilot season in 2016, the series received a wealth of acclaim for both seasons, but it wasn't enough for Amazon to renew the show for a third run. The second season launched back in April with news of the cancellation arriving a month later. At the time, Edlund announced his plans to shop the series around to find a new home.

"I'm sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with @TheTickTV  I'm not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series."

While Edlund was unable to set The Tick up with another streaming outlet or network, it was heartening to see so much love for this underappreciated show with the fan support. Hopefully, the current cast will return for an animated finale or something to wrap up the hanging plot threads from season two.

The Tick is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
