Tom Hardy is making a return to television this year and has announced he will be joining the vast of hit gangster series Peaky Blinders. The Dark Knight Rises star will feature throughout in the second series alongside Cillian Murphy, Sam Neil and Helen McCrory.
Details of his character have yet to be fully revealed but rumour has it that Hardy will play the leader of a rival gang who wants to do business with Tommy (Murphy). This will be the first small screen appearance for Hardy since the 2009 mini-series The Take, Peaky Blinders will reunite him with Cillian Murphy having starred opposite him in The Dark Knight Rises and Inception.
The BBC Two period drama won rave reviews when the first series launched last year with particular praise for the cinematic style, some unfairly labeled it “Boardwalk Empire in Birmingham‘ but if that’s the worst thing you can say about it then it has been a job well done for everybody involved.
Tom Hardy recently finished working with Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight on the movie Locke, Knight also directs the real time thriller that hits cinemas this April and also stars Andrew Scott and Ruth Wilson.
Peaky Blinders returns to BBC Two late this year.
