A couple of months on from the announcement that the low-budget thriller Fall was getting a sequel, writer/director Scott Mann has revealed that a second sequel is also in the works. When a climb goes wrong for best friends Hunter and Becky, they become trapped atop an old 2000 ft television tower with little chance of rescue.
It is an effective movie that will make the back of your knees feel weird at regular intervals, especially if you see it on the big screen. Made for a very modest $3 million, Fall didn't strike it big at the box office, grossing just $22 million, but when it landed on Netflix, it found a massive audience, and now, a fully-fledged franchise is on the horizon. In a recent interview with Scott Mann (who'll produce the sequels), here's what he had to say about what to expect from the new movies;
"I am thrilled to be continuing the Fall journey and taking it to the next level. We've got a really special cinematic experience planned and I'm immensely grateful to my fellow producers for backing the vision. I'm also excited to be working with new collaborators as well as reuniting with the original gang, and obviously can't wait to be back filming thousands of feet up.
"Fall is continuing a growing trend in horror thrillers by becoming an instant franchise, a Fear Street trilogy was released on Netflix a week apart, Pearl quickly followed Ti West's X and will conclude next year with MaXXXine, and Renny Harlin has shot three new Strangers movies back-to-back. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fall 2 will start production in June for a release sometime in 2025.
Fall is available to stream on Netflix and is also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
