Other notable roles include Dr. Tim Whatley on Seinfeld (1989), Doug Heffernans neighbor on The King of Queens (1998), astronaut Buzz Aldrin in From the Earth to the Moon (1998), and Ted Mosbys boss on How I Met Your Mother (2005). Bryan was born in Canoga Park, California, to Audrey Peggy Sell, a radio actress, and Joe Cranston (Joseph Louis Cranston), who was also an actor (and a boxer). His maternal grandparents were German, and his father was of Irish, Austrian-Jewish, and German descent.
